I know, I know, more ” ruin porn “. I just can’t get enough.
Dee – fuckin’ – troit. That footage of Iggy in those gold pants. God !
An extraordinary high-quality version of the concert film. A celebration of the unique sound of the Mosrite guitar, and, really, of the electric guitar itself.
Try to keep up.

.. Wherein Brazilian jazz musician Hermeto Pascoal reminds us that we can make music anytime, anywhere, with anything.
It’s so good. This really reminds me of the goofy sense of humor I had at these boys’ age, although I wasn’t a natural performer like the fat kid is – I would have been the other kid, who’s going to grow up to be the lead guitarist in this band. Oh, and hey, 1-5-6-4!
Here’s a clip that illustrates the endless recycling of the 1-5-6-4 chord scheme in popular music — it’s something I’ve been aware of / bugged by for quite some time, and these guys really nail it.
Here’s Reggie Watts, who I guess you could call a comedian — although I think of him as ” funny, smart, interesting guy ” — using a Line 6 Echo Modeler to create a whole, multi-layered song. This is a very cool pedal, and I remember that when it came out, a couple of militantly anti-digital guitar players I knew started using them. I did too, although nowadays I’m more likely to be using the Echo Pro, which is the rackmount version. If you like this, check out Watts’ Fuck Shit Stack .
U900 are a Japanese bunny and bear who play ukulele covers of surf tunes — in this version of The Ventures’ Diamond Head, Bear takes a melodica solo.
You gotta love that 8-track tapes, the dumbest music-delivery format ever invented, cost more than LPs. By the way, I bought my first record at Woolworth’s, a little live recording that’s still rewarding me today.
There’s home-grown Japanese culture, and then there’s the totally freaky shit they come up with by absorbing, distilling, and recombining western influences. Versailles are a band that plays a sort of gothic, highly dramatic technical shred-metal, and they’re a bunch of dudes who dress like 18th century courtesans.
