One of those movies that people either love or hate, which makes sense : it’s an impressionistic, surreal art flick, in black and white, with weird pacing, and it asks that you know something about history before you watch it. I loved it, saw it a couple times in a row, and I especially liked Jim Williams’ score. I can’t shake this particular tune, which starts playing in my head in every quiet moment.

Jodorowsky’s Dune. How could the story of a film that never got made be so inspiring? I liked everything about this, and I really dig Jodorowsky’s idea of artists as warriors.

The Act Of Killing. Holy. Shit. Check it out.

One More For All My True Friends. Of interest to me because I had this band’s records and saw them when I was 16. Of interest to you probably only if you’re an old punk or really into rock history. A nice film, and a good companion to Let Them Know : The Story Of Youth Brigade And BYO Records, but there’s not that much drama or red-hot action here, and the members of Channel 3 don’t pretend to be anything other than regular guys from the suburbs.

The Ballad Of Genesis And Lady Jaye. I liked it, although I can see how the film would be confusing for someone without prior knowledge of Coum, Throbbing Gristle and PTV. Freakz!

Last Days Here. I had to force myself not to turn away, especially during the part where his arms are covered with open sores because he thinks he’s picking parasites out of them – but I’m glad I saw it.

Beware Of Mr. Baker. Jesus, I didn’t know like 90% of Ginger Baker’s crazy, crazy story.
